Sometimes, few lines strike an interesting note. More so, it is important to realize the connect between any two instances which get linked up through our experience... One such lines, is :
"Love is giving someone the power to destroy you, but trusting them not to..."
This line reminded me of the song I have posted here...I wanted to record this observation, and I wish to think more about the existence of a connect between the song and the line...
Words can't even describe how I feel right now. After 18 weeks of training, I have achieved what I once thought was impossible. When I first started running years ago in Montreal I never thought I could run a marathon- if someone had said to me after running that 10 km race that one day I would run a marathon I seriously would have thought they were insane. But strangely enough how I felt yesterday was similar to how I felt when I crossed that 10km finish line years ago. The sense of accomplishment and achievement is still the same- no matter what the distance.
I think one of the main reasons that I achieved what I did yesterday has a lot to do with the people that are in my running life. Some may think that running is a pretty solitary sport and maybe for some that is the case, but one of the main joys of running for me have been the people that I have met along the way. All of the people I have run with have helped me become the runner that I am.
I can't believe that I have run a marathon- is a really surreal experience. Crossing that finish line has made me realize that I can achieve the things I set my mind too. Impossible really is nothing.
La Almunia de Doña Godina... Es un pueblo 50 km lejos de Zaragoza, tienen sus fiestas entre 25-30 de Septiembre. Con mi trabajo, querido Asamblea de Cooperación Por la Paz, estoy ejecutando un proyecto de Gobierno de Aragón (convo. 2007) que se llama: "Campaña de Sensibilización sobre la situación en Honduras y el papel de la cooperación aragonesa y promoción de la participación ciudadana en la Cooperación al Desarrollo"
Según el proyecto estamos montando una exposición sobre Honduras en La Almunia de Doña Godina, Cariñena, Epila y en Belchite. Todo estaba muy bien, como estaban las fiestas os puedo segurar que todo el pueblo ya han visitado nuestra exposición.
Vale vale... no voy a hacer más publicidad aunque el proyecto esta muy bien ;)
El sábado, fui para estar allí con la exposición con David y Ethemcan.. Y después de cerrar la exposición estábamos intentando explicar "¿Qué es una peña?" a Ethemcan...
Estábamos buscando un supermercado o algo para poder comprar una cerveza barata.. Hemos entrado un bar que se llama " Bar Martinez" . Sin embargo no era un bar, era una peña. Nos han dicho que no se venden pero nos invitan la cerveza y después nos han invitado a su mesa, a su cena, a su brindis, a su familia...
Había 5 maravillosas familias con niños/as y nosotros...
Os digo ahora qué podéis aprender una peña:
_ una mentalidad muy abierta _ convivencia _ alegria _ fiestaaaa _ musica _ brindis con cumpleaños _ bailes con niños _ igualdad entre mujeres y hombres _ muchas muchas muchas risas _ sentir como familia con la gente que tu has visto primera vez _ tener un corazon enorme _ sentir feliz _ sentir segura
Ahh La Almunia, ahh Bar Martinez... año que viene, voy a comprar 1 litro Raki y venir allí, con vosotros, nosotros! :)
De a poco, Facebook se fue comiendo mi blogging. Si las fotos de cualquier salida terminan en facebook, si "qué estás haciendo" se publica en facebook, incluso desde mi messenger (uso Pidgin, en el que tengo todas las cuentas, incluida la de twitter y... facebook!), el blog termina pasando a segundo plano, porque "el ruido", los amigos y los comentarios terminan pasando por facebook y no por acá... :S
Pero el blog no se da por vencido! :)
Qué es de mi vida?
ElArgentino.com: la primera primicia para este blog es que soy redactor de ElArgentino.com :) Hago mayormente las noticias de política, las de tecnología y las bizarras (de mucha importancia en los medios online). Trillones de gracias a Mauro Federico que me recomendóooo!! :D Ahora sí puedo decir que soy periodista y no sentirme desvalido ante la respuesta: "ah, sí?, en qué medio estás?" jeje...
Al Fondo Hay Lugar: La otra primicia para este blog (y sólo para este blog, porque ya hace un mes que ando en eso) es que, junto a Sol Frontini y Mauricio Pladellorens, estoy haciendo un programa de radio llamado "Al fondo hay lugar" que se emite todos los sábados de 19 a 20 por FM 90.9 y por su sitio www.Antena91com.ar, en Lomas de Zamora :D
El programa es "just for fun" para entretener y entretenernos, con música, noticias insólitas, entrevistas a personajes, algún que otro radioteatro, etc, etc...

Y el 28 de Septiembre, hoy, de hecho hace pocas horas que ha sido la gala de clausura con una gran participación ( como todo el resto del festival). Javier Coronas haciendo de "doctor Graus" presento la gala y dio los premios a los ganadores del festival.
Tras el exito de este año, podemos decir que el festival a puesto a Zaragoza en un puesto muy destecado del humor nacional y un punto de referencia para comicos y publico.
Nos vemos el año que viene ;) JA JA JU JAJIJA

At the Multicultural Youth Centre on Friday, October 10th from 5-7PM, we are going to have a Sport in a Box workshop for teens. It will be a chance to learn about the Millenium Development Goals while participating in sport activities and fun exercises.
The Thunder Bay Indian Friendship Centre is going to facilitate and any youth in Thunder Bay are invited to attend and supper will be provided.
In hopes that we can keep doing these workshops, we are going to try to track when the youth centre is most busy and continue having the gatherings on those nights.
Anyone interested can call the Multicultural Youth Centre.
We all know I'm a big fan of technologies and gadgets... so when I read last week in the New York Times that one of the more innovative genetic mapping companies (23andme) had reduced the price of its Genetic Mapping service (which many companies sell for up to $2-3,000) from $999 to only a few hundred dollars, I decided it was an amazing amount of information and education to be able to get access to for that amount, so I took the plunge and signed up.
A day later, FedEx delivered a Spit Kit to my house, which requires about 10 minutes of spitting into and mixing together with a solution, and your DNA sample is ready to send back! And off it went to Los Angeles, California to a laboratory today. Funny enough, the FedEx Pak they provide specifically says "do not send liquids" on it :)
So in 6-8 weeks, I'll know where my ancestors are from, whether I'm genetically lactose intolerant, whether or not I love broccoli because I can't taste the bitterness in it, and whether or not I'm a bit more likely than average to get certain diseases or be susceptible to certain conditions in my lifetime, along with dozens of other interesting facts. For less than the price of a university course in genetics, I can view and learn much of the world's most up-to-date knowledge on the relationships between genes and personal/medical conditions personalized to my specific genetic data. How cool is that?
You can make a case against "messing with your life" this way (I had an interesting discussion about this with someone just the other night), but I think that given the great power we have as humans to be intelligent and understand life in a way that no other species can, we then have a responsibility to use it to maximize the potential of our lives. Right? I guess it's also just a bit of an extra motivation knowing that you're slightly more at risk than average to do something about it! (from 1-2 times more or less likely than the generally population, in most cases)

This week I have attended meetings with youth to discuss youth engagement in Thunder Bay and the possibilities for action-oriented projects.
I have been in communication with the Independent Living Resource Centre and he likes the idea of TIG training. Youthscape has also expressed interest in TIG training.
The event I will be attending this month is tomorrow at Fort William First Nation. It is put on by Gitchi Gami (a grassroots environmental group). They were involved in the last climate change workshop we had.
I have a bite from a Westgate high school teacher for workshops and his world issues class will invite me in when they are doing the climate change unit. There are two teachers at Churchill High School who have been identified as socially-minded, so I will contact them next week.
